Products & Use

  • Rapsodine products are not certified by any certification body such as EcoCert, NaTrue, Cosmos, etc. However, most of the ingredients used are Eco/Cosmos certified. The reason Rapsodine has chosen not to certify itself is because there are still too many different standards and certification bodies with different criteria. Certification is also very costly.

However, the guidelines for our products are that they must contain at least 95% natural and at least 20% organic content for "stay-on products" such as creams, and 10% organic content for "rinse-off products" such as shower gel (these guidelines align with the requirements of EcoCert and Cosmos).

  • No, and animal testing is also prohibited within the EU, a ban has been in place since 2004. The products are tested in labs and on voluntary human subjects (this is done by an external accredited laboratory).

  • All Rapsodine products are free from microplastics. In our sugar scrub, we use sugar as a peeling agent.

  • No, our products do not contain mineral oils but are based on vegetable oils and extracts.

  • No, our products do not contain PFAS.

  • Some of our products contain fragrance, while others are unscented. On each product page, you can read more about the content and ingredients for that specific product.

  • Yes, all our products are 100% vegan, meaning they contain no raw materials from the animal kingdom (e.g. lanolin and beeswax, which are otherwise common in natural and organic products)

  • Products containing water must be preserved. Rapsodine's products are preserved with an eco-certified preservative consisting of Sodium benzoate and Potassium sorbate. Body oil, massage oil, shower oil, intimate shower oil, hair oil, nail drops, lip balm, and sugar scrub contain no preservatives at all, as these products do not contain water. Rapsodine's products do not contain parabens or phenoxyethanol.

  • Our shower products and soaps (shampoo, kunzea shampoo, shower cream, shampoo & shower cream, kunzea soap, and hand soap) contain Lactic Acid instead of Citric Acid. Lactic Acid is used in a small amount to lower the pH value of the product.

Our Home series products sometimes contain citric acid and are added to lower the pH value of the product.

  • We do not add pure palm oil to our products, but the products may contain derivatives of palm oil. However, we require our raw material suppliers to ensure that any palm oil present in raw materials is RSPO-certified. An RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certificate guarantees that the palm oil has been produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

  • Sulphates are the cleansing agents that wash/lather and dissolve grease, and are found in most liquid soaps and shampoos worldwide. Our products now contain neither Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) nor Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). Instead, we use an Eco/cosmos-certified sulphate called Sodium Coco Sulphate (SCS), and we also offer completely sulphate-free alternatives. The yellow hair and shower series contains Sodium Coco Sulphate, while the white series is sulphate-free.

  • Our products are based on organic cold-pressed rapeseed oil. Cold-pressing rapeseed oil means that the rapeseed is gently pressed at a temperature not exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. The result is an oil with a deeper color and a higher content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Depending on the year, for example, if it has been a hot or a rainy and cold summer, the rapeseed contains varying amounts of chlorophyll, which means the oil can have different colors, tastes, and scents. A cold-pressed oil retains its original color, scent, taste, and its content of vitamins and minerals, while a refined oil is "purified" from these.

A cold-pressed oil does not have as long a shelf life as a refined one, and therefore, our oil-based products have a 6-month shelf life from the date the product is opened. (applies to massage oil, sugar scrub, body oil)

The shelf life of the products varies depending on the product. Most commonly it is 12M (12 months) after opening, but for oil products such as Massage oil, it is 6M (6 months). The shelf life from the opening date is indicated on the packaging.

If the product is unopened, it lasts for 30-36 months, i.e., 2.5-3 years from the manufacturing date. The manufacturing date is not on the packaging, but we know the date from the batch number, so please contact us if you suspect your product is too old.

  • It varies slightly depending on the product. We have started printing the percentage of natural and organic ingredients on the back of the packaging and on each product page here on our website.

  • Kunzea oil is an essential oil from Australia that has been shown to have a very good effect on dry and problematic skin, e.g. skin with eczema and psoriasis. We have 5 products in our range that contain kunzea oil: Foot cream, kunzea cream, kunzea soap, kunzea shampoo and nail drops.

  • The moisturizing cream contains more rapeseed oil than the body lotion, and it is more moisturizing and also thicker in consistency. If you have very dry skin, we usually recommend the moisturizing cream. Body lotion has a lighter consistency that absorbs more quickly into the skin.

  • The yellow shampoo is a traditional yet mild shampoo with sulfates (which are a surfactant/cleansing agent).

The white one is a so-called sulfate-free shampoo that is suitable for those with dry skin and a dry scalp. It contains a milder surfactant than sulfates. The white shampoo is also aloe vera juice-based and has a higher organic content. Sulfate-free shampoos cannot wash out hair care/styling products containing silicones, so if you use a lot of such products, you will need a shampoo with sulfates.

  • No, it is free from aluminum, parabens, synthetic preservatives, and synthetic perfumes.

  • Bathroom Cleaner is a concentrated product used for more "heavy-duty" cleaning, such as descaling and sanitizing. Bathroom Cleaner was previously called "Sanitizer". Bathroom Spray is a ready-to-use product that is easy to apply and can be used to quickly refresh surfaces in the bathroom (sinks, toilets, shower walls, etc.).

  • Yes, it's possible, but it will result in a completely different product than bathroom spray and all-purpose spray, which are not quite as effective.

  • Bathroom spray has a low pH (2.5) to be effective against limescale and bacteria. This means it should only be used on surfaces that tolerate low pH (acid-resistant surfaces). Marble and natural stone are examples of materials that are not acid-resistant. All-purpose spray has a high pH value of 9.5 and can be used on all types of surfaces. When it comes to treating wooden surfaces such as wooden floors and wooden decking, we usually recommend rapeseed soap as it re-greases the wood, which is good for durability.

  • We do not recommend it. Rapeseed soap is not developed or tested for use as a skincare product, and it has a high pH value (11.5), which is far from the skin's natural pH value (5.5). This means it would severely disrupt the skin's balance and pH. Regular water has a pH value of 7.

Instead, we recommend Kunzea soap in foot baths, or shower oil if you want a more softening and moisturizing product.

  • We do not recommend this as this product is not designed for contact with skin/hands. Our hand dishwashing liquid, however, is very mild and does not dry out your hands when used.

  • We primarily scent our products with essential oils (such as lavender, orange, lavandin, palmarosa, kunzea, etc.) and natural perfumes. Natural perfumes consist of fragrance components from essential oils/the plant kingdom that are blended to create a specific scent. We use one completely allergen-free synthetic perfume (honey blossom, which we use in our moisturizer and body lotion).

  • Our products are developed to be gentle and nourishing for everyday use. As skin can react differently, we always recommend that you read the ingredient list carefully and choose products that suit your specific needs. For those who wish to avoid fragrance, unscented options are also available.

  • Our products are manufactured in Mariestad, where we have our own factory and factory shop.

  • Swedish cold-pressed rapeseed oil is the base for many of our products. It is naturally emollient and contains, among other things, vitamin E and phytosterols which help nourish and moisturize the skin.

  • On each product page, you'll find information about the product's features, contents, and use. You are also welcome to contact us if you need help choosing the right product.
